After seeing how gorgeous a liquid bronzer can be, I’ve been dipping my brush in equally amazing liquid blushes. They’ve quickly become a staple in my beauty cabinet and I don’t think I’ll get back to traditional powder blushes anytime soon.

Trust me when I say that a liquid blush looks exquisite regardless of your skin type, texture, and tone. In case you’re new to the trend, here’s the gist.

Liquid blush adds a soft flush of color to your cheeks, much like traditional powder blush but in liquid form. These types of blushes usually have a light, runny consistency that blends seamlessly into the skin, creating a natural finish.

Many liquid blushes are formulated with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which is amazing for dry or dehydrated skin. They come in a variety of finishes, such as matte and dewy, and are available in various shades to suit different skin tones.

But on top of these, I think they have advantages over powder and cream blushes too. For example, liquid blushes are often smudge-proof as opposed to cream blushes, which can melt and move around on the skin.

Similarly, they tend to last longer than powder formulas because they adhere to the skin better, keeping your cheeks looking flushed throughout the day.

These beautiful formulas, though expensive at times, are so easy to create sophisticated, elegant looks with, but they’re also easy to use even when you only need a subtle tint.

So whatever looks you’re trying to create or whatever skin type you have, I guarantee that you will be hooked. Scroll down to check out some of my favorite liquid blushes I keep recommending to anyone who likes blush.

Best Liquid Blushes

1. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand High Blush

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand High Blush - Best Liquid Blush

This is going to make you stop using powder blush because this is addictive! The light gel formula is a flawless blend of blush and highlighter. It only takes three dabs of the sponge applicator onto the cheeks to get the most youthful-looking flush of color. It leaves the skin dewy, almost wet, and radiant. And it looks amazing even if you don’t wear base makeup.

The formula is pigmented but it’s buildable too if you want to intensify the shade. It’s 100% beginner-friendly and you can apply it using your fingers. If you like the formula but prefer something matte, I absolutely adore the Matte Beauty Blush Wand. All shades are super pigmented and have velvety matte finishes.

Size: 0.41 oz/12 ml
Good To Know: Cruelty-free

2. Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Blush

Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Blush - Best Liquid Blush

I know this is a splurge and I agree but there’s a shade here that makes it all worthy! Much like their foundation with the same texture, this one squirts out tiny pigment droplets that burst out to color up those cheeks evenly. It’s as light as water and the colors are super sheer, very soft that goes well with minimalist makeup looks.

The color payoff is not high but the pigments are buildable if you have medium or deep skin tones. If you are on the lighter side, the pigmentation allows you to get rosy cheeks with one single layer. My favorite shade is Intense Coral and one tiny squirt gives you this soft matte peach on the skin that deepens as you blend it. This is a favorite in my circle and we also love the fact that the bottle allows you to see how much product is left inside.

Size: 0.5 oz/15 ml

3. Armani Luminous Silk Cheek Tint

Armani Luminous Silk Cheek Tint - Best Liquid Blush

Speaking of matte finish, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a rich, elegant berry shade. This is a cheek tint, which makes the formula basically budge-proof. It’s insanely pigmented and it’s very easy to overuse it! So simply dab a tiny amount on the cheeks and look how that drop magically turns dull skin into a rosy one.

My shade is Intense Berry, which is amazing for creating sophisticated looks for date nights but also for creating that post-workout flush. I also have this in Vivid Coral, and as unlikely as it looks, these two mix very well. And I end up with these dusty plum-colored cheeks with a subtle pop of coral underneath.

Finish: Matte
Shades:
6
Size: 0.4 oz/12 ml

4. Yves Saint Laurent Make Me Blush Blurring Liquid Blush

Equally gorgeous, pigmented, and easy to use are these luxurious blushes. No stickiness, no mess, no getting it on the fingers and creating splotches on the face: these are as easy to apply as dabbing your fingers onto to cheeks for 5 seconds.

This one has a blurring effect on the skin which is great if you have large pores like me but you also like to drag down the blush towards the center of the cheeks to create that sunburned blush look. It doesn’t magnify any skin texture but just blends effortlessly into your skin, creating a soft, feathery, flushed look.

Finish: Matte
Shades:
8
Size: 0.5 oz/15 ml

5. Nars Afterglow Liquid Blush

Nars Afterglow Liquid Blush

If you prefer a bit of dewy finish liquid blush but not as much as Charlotte Tilbury’s formula, this is the dream. The runny creamy texture simply glides on the skin and settles down to a softly radiant finish.

It’s pigmented, rich, and buildable and leaves the skin looking super hydrated and plump. My favorite shade is Orgasm, which is a nice baby pink with soft golden shimmers in it.

Finish: Radiant
Shades:
9
Size: 0.23/7 ml

6. Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush

Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush - Best Liquid Blush

Trust me when I say that you get every bang for your buck with this formula because this liquid blush is insanely pigmented. And it’s so light that it’s like pigmented water. It just spreads out very easily and doesn’t dry down fast. But once it does, it lasts long! I apply it with my fingers, so there’s always a little bit left on my fingers and I wash my hands several times until it starts to fade.

So this is budge-proof. It’s also transfer-proof because it doesn’t move around or melt on the face. My shade is Scene which is this beautiful soft pink. You’re also going to love the fact that the packaging prevents overuse because it disperses just the right amount all thanks to the button dispenser.

Finish: Matte
Shades:
7
Size: 0.34 oz/10.3 ml
Good To Know: Vegan, cruelty-free

So these are some of the best liquid blushes you can get your hands on. I know some are a bit more expensive than a basic powder blush, but you do get a way more flattering flush than you get from other formulas. So invest in a good option to enjoy flushed, glowy cheeks. Once you do, here’s how to apply liquid blush to get the best results.

How to Use and Apply Liquid Blush

1. Choose the Right Shade

Before applying, make sure to select a shade that complements your skin tone. For fair skin, opt for soft pinks or peachy hues. Medium to olive skin tones look great with coral or warm-toned shades while deeper skin tones pop with rich berry or plum shades.

2. Prep Your Skin

Start by prepping your skin with a moisturizer or a hydrating primer. This ensures a smooth application because liquid blushes work best on hydrated skin. After you’re done with prep, move on to base makeup and finish applying foundation or other base products.

3. Build Slowly

A little goes a long way with liquid blush, so start with a small amount and gradually build up. It’s easier to add more than to take away if you’ve applied too much.

4. Use the Right Tools

For a natural look, use your fingers to gently tap the blush onto the apples of your cheeks, blending outwards toward the temples. This is my favorite method and every single blush I mentioned above can be applied using fingers. You can also use a makeup sponge or a brush to blend the product into your skin, but these tools might waste a bit amount of your blush. Keep that in mind.

5. Blend Quickly

Liquid blush sets faster than powder blush, so make sure to blend it in quickly to avoid streaks. Start with a small amount and build up if necessary. The goal is to achieve a soft, blended flush rather than harsh lines.
